When a deposit transaction comes through your QuickBooks Online bank feed from an unknown customer your accountant will send you a notification requesting customer information for the purpose of matching the deposit to customer invoice payments, deposits or sales receipts. This request will show up on your client dashboard. You will be able to select customers from a list and add customers into a form directly within the request on your client dashboard. Customer information is frequently needed for Bank Feed Categorization, Customer Invoicing and Sales Receipt service offerings.

Some Entry Fields are Required, While Others are Optional

Your accountant will add customers for you when you provide their setup information within the form in your request. In order to add a new customer, you should complete all required fields. Your accountant will only create customer invoices, payments and sales receipts if you have selected one of these monthly service offerings. Deposits will be held in the Uncategorized Income account until resolved. Below is a list of required customer setup field.

  • Company – The name of the customer

  • Address – The street address

  • City – The name of the city

  • Zip Code – The postal code

  • Country – The country name

  • State – The state name

  • Email – The primary email contact

  • Phone – The primary contact phone number

  • Terms – The payment terms for the account
